Blogging to increase brand awareness
Today’s going to be a little bit more informative than usual, because I noticed a few things.
Not everyone knows what it takes to write an article, so I’ll give you more info about that. The other thing is, that I’ve been in contact with quite a lot of brands, who don’t know about the power of blogging to increase their brand awareness.
What it takes to write an article
Blogging professionally isn’t typing a short article for 15 minutes, making a picture with your phone and publishing it. It takes a lot longer than that and there’s far more work behind it than that.
First of all you have to come up with ideas. You’ll start with research. You have to know the brands you’re talking about (and work with), plus you have to come up with original ways of writing about it. There might be multiple people writing about the same thing, but it’s the way you do it that makes it special.
So writing an article takes about 2 to 3 hours. Then there’s the other important aspect of blogging: pictures [how to look good in pictures always]. Professional photo’s are key in today’s bloggers world. People want to see quality: on your Blog ánd Social Media channels. Before you can actually take pictures, you have to hire a photographer (or collaborate with someone). He or she has to make time for you and time is precious (and money). Then there is the weather and both your agenda’s. When you’re shooting editorials, it’s all about the right composition. So you’ll be searching for the right location that matches your outfit. Then there’s the actual making of pictures, the editing of pictures afterwards and the processing part.
Finally you have placed the pictures. But after the final article is published, the work is not done yet. There’s this beautiful thing called Social Media. Writing catchy captions for Facebook, Instagram and other channels, interacting with followers, answering questions. Altogether it might take more than 8 to 9 hours and sometimes days of interacting and that’s just 1 article. 3 times a week or more.
Now let’s talk about Blogging to increase brand awareness.
How can blogging help to increase your brand awareness? Blogging has become a very influential way of promotion throughout years. Why? Because each blogger has its own niche and target audience. You can spend thousands on TV commercials, but chances are big your desired audience doesn’t even see it. Most people find commercials on TV annoying. By spending a much smaller amount of money on someone with a specific niche and target audience, you have a much bigger chance to increase your brand awareness.
Does it mean my brand will get more sales?
Nothing can be predicted and more sales are never guaranteed.
When you’re spending €100.000,- on a TV commercial, no one will guarantee you more sales either.
It’s about brand awareness, people get to see your product, get to know your brand. The more they see it, the more they will talk about it. For example: The first time I saw something about OREO, I didn’t immediately buy OREO’s. After half a year I thought: let’s try them. Turned out I loved them.
When a brand says to me:
“We can’t estimate the impact of the posts. However, we could consider thereafter an evolution of the collaboration and a compensation.”
I’m comparing the impact of Blogging with big public figures like Cristiano Ronaldo – the Footballer.
If Cristiano Ronaldo wears lets say a Nike shirt, nobody can tell the exact impact. But in the long-term, people will notice and will be influenced by it. Maybe not immediately in the near future, but its planted in their heads and in the future they will think about it and buy more Nike products.
The same will count for your brand. You have to build trust and once people see your brand more and more, they will get interested in your brand and buy your products.
Oh Yes babe I know exactly what you mean. I always laugh when people say it is just taking a few pictures right…. I am like keep on dreaming sweeties! I love the way you have written this hon!!

I agree with you babe!! love youuu!!!
I think brands are starting to catch on so it will luckily start being easier and easier! Great post! xx
Very informative article about increasing brand awareness. So many companies go to bloggers nowadays rather than dumping a lot of cash on commercials. It’s proven to be more effective too!
It’s true – people don’t get how many hours it can take. Blogging is hard work!
XO

Gosh I wish Brands knew how much work goes into a blog post how many times have us bloggers been offered to do a post for a product (not going to pay the bills)when it could take eight hours to do the work .Great article!
great post, charming! thanks for sharing
I really love collaborating with brands as a blogger/content creator. Thanks for this detailed share about how we can use blogging to increase brand awareness. This post was definitely so helpful and I’ll definitely be taking notes!
xoxo
YAS girl, goed geschreven!
yesss babe! so good and so true! love this!!

Totally agree with this article. I wish that brands would take this into consideration and realize that bloggers help raise brand awareness and it’s not a immediate game changer.

This was super useful. I kind of wish that brands would read this and come to realize that reaching out to bloggers doesn’t mean your sales immediately go up. Of course, there are those big time bloggers that pretty much help clothing items sell out, but the majority of the bloggers just help raise brand awareness.

You have great points! Blogging takes a lot of time and effort, but that’s not what most people think. I really appreciate you writing this to bring awareness.

Such a great insightful post! Thanks for sharing this and making all very good points!
xo, Jo
Yes, I think it is underestimated how much time is spent on creating a post. Let alone just working on Instagram engagement. Though I do always want to get good results for the companies that I work with.

All points are so true. Blogging done right takes so much time & energy. I think companies are starting to see the value in quality blogging but it is so hard to put it into actual numbers. Thanks for bringing this into words.
Happy Thanksgiving !

I absolutely agree with you. That is the power of blogging, advertising and brand awareness. You may not be impacted by it at first, but the more you put yourself/your brand out, the more exposure you’ll get in the long run. Same goes for collabs and their companies.
This is a great post and I wish that every brand and company would read this. Blogging seems like such an easy task but truly it is a full on business and the time it takes to create content and write is very valuable. I like that you are making this known and sharing your thoughts! xoxo, Christine
So true! I did a post on this and agree with everything you said!
This is super informative and thanks so sharing! It can be so easy to just take a photo and write a few words but writing something lengthy definitely takes more time and more finesse. I need to get better at that myself!
This article is so well written! Love all the points you have highlighted! And indeed, writing a blog post takes longer than some would think. Have a lovely week! <3
Andreea,
Great informative article girl! thank you so much for sharing 🙂 agree with you in many aspects!

this article is beautifully written, and well said! Now I’m more about quality, put more thought into my text and photos. I agree it can be so difficult to arrange taking photographs!!
Thank you for bringing this out to all brands and others who think blogging is just about taking a picture and sitting down writing something for 15 minutes and then you’re done. Well, it’s NOT. It takes an enormous amount of time and is usually more full time than a full time job as you never really have time off as a blogger. I wish more companies realized this and actually understood how much time and effort we put into every post in order to make it worth their while. And like you said. We can’t predict the outcome of a blog post, as little as one can predict the outcome of a TV commercial.
Love you for writing about this!
xoxo

All very true points! Blogging can be so oversimplified!
Great blog post. You are right there are so many factors in writing blog posts for collaborations.
