La Mer : cream of the sea. My BP of the week…
I posted this picture on my Instagram a little while ago and I got SO many sweet messages afterwards.
Because I’m receiving and buying a lot of different product each week, I get new favorites real quick. Therefore.. I’m introducing to you: BP of the week, which stands for Beauty Product of the week.
This week: La Mer Moisturizing cream! La Mer is truly legendary. Let me tell you a little origin story:
A little history
Max Huber, a German-born aerospace physicist, suffered severe burns in a lab explosion in the 1950s while working on a rocket stabilizer. He spent the next 12 years experimenting with Macrocystis pyrifera, a variety of kelp found in the ocean near his California home, until he finally created an elixir that healed his wounds and restored his skin to such lustrous health that all evidence of the accident was erased.
Huber started selling his creation, christened Crème de La Mer (you know, Cream of the Sea), in 1965; after his death in 1991, Estée Lauder purchased the brand from Huber’s daughter and turned it into the blockbuster luxury skin-care company we know today.
The cream is one that’s really rich and calming and I love to apply it before I go to sleep. It’s a real luxury, not only because of the price, but also because of the ingredients. You only need a small bit of La Mer cream, rub it on your hands, so that it gets warm and the ingredients get activated. Then apply it to your face(/neck/bust/wherever you like it. ) and let the magic do her work.
