I definitely am.
The vacation is over. School begins again, work continues as always. Are you also reminiscing about the good sunny days on the beach? I definitely am. The white beach of Mondello, the amazing large scoops of strawberry ice cream and of course the weather which only turned better over the course of the day. If you love night walks, I definitely would say Palermo had the sweetest soft nights for a walk.
I could tell you about the beach. I could tell you about every day of the week but usually, a vacation has a few highlights which make the vacation so freaking unforgettable. For me, and my two lovely friends, it was a very easy pick.
Amecasa
You want to eat something authentic. Something really Italian, no, not just Italian. Sicilian. But you’ve got many restaurants to choose from, some good, some bad. We found this restaurant accidentally after Google Maps fooled us once again and that sushi restaurant around the corner wasn’t actually there. Amecasa is a lovely restaurant at Via Simone Corleo. This is near the Politeama theatre.
I personally love it when you have a menu that isn’t a rehash of every restaurant in the vicinity. Amecasa blows it away with their own menu and pastas. We went for three days to this restaurant and tried different dishes and appetizers, none which disappointed. Now you must think this food will eat the insides of your wallet. Wrong! It was incredibly affordable and the dishes itself are at most 16-18 euros. This is a place where you want to fully enjoy the three-course meal.
This stir up pasta is vegetarian and made in one big pan. It’s meant to be shared and the second day we all felt like pasta with a nice twist. And good it was!
Now, I have to be honest with you. Good food and a reasonable price wouldn’t have made this such a highlight in my vacation if it wasn’t for the staff that served us.
The staff is, without exaggeration, one of the best I’ve ever experienced. Open and welcoming, they are already at the door for you. They had great personalities, small jokes and chatter truly made us eat with a smile. Everyone is able to speak English for small talk or endearingly tries to.
People make the experience.
Amecasa made Palermo unforgettable.
Lots of love, Elianne
