Lovelies! It’s been a while since I really took the time to sit down and relax with a good book. But I started doing so again and it makes me feel great.
Maybe it’s a Pisces thing, but I can dream away and disappear into a whole other world while reading. I want to snuggle up with my tea, but then I forget about my tea because I’m reading. You know, that sort of thing. And it’s not always difficult or ‘deep’ books, I love chicklits. The ones you can predict, with some love here and there and some funny quotes that you can relate to. Because you don’t have to think. You can just escape from your own reality and thoughts, and just get lost into someone else’s words.
That’s what I love about reading.
What’s also funny, is that nowadays, almost everyone is looking at their phones in public traffic. Like, if you stand in the metro and look around. Everyone is busy: talking on the phone, apping, smiling at their phones, showing other people pictures on their phones, listening to music. There’s rarely a person who reads a book. And when there is, I admire them. And I want to know what book they’re reading. Even funnier, is that usually handsome guys are the ones reading a book (you even have an Instagram-page called @hotdudesreading, I’m not lying they have 1 million followers). If you go to London, you have lots of them. Here in Holland, they’re rare.
Unfortunately it’s too cold now to really sit down outside under a tree and read a book. Plus your bum will get wet, and that’s not exactly my ideal plan of a good afternoon. So my favorite place is: home, or in a café with window-view. Preferably somewhere cosy, nice-looking staff (you know, for the one time you do look up from your book) and where they serve good drinks. My colleague thinks I’m addicted to hot chocolate (I love it, but I’m not addicted), so she tags me in posts about hot chocolate. However, I didn’t find thé hot chocolate place in Amsterdam yet. So: if you know a place, let me know. And if I find one, I’ll let you know… Deal? 😉
