♥The picture perfect life – Confessions of a Blogger/Instagrammer
Living the picture perfect life
Sometimes it’s difficult. Finding cute places, wearing the perfect outfit, looking good; making the perfect photo. You’re going to places because they look pretty, you’re wearing certain clothing because they look good in your feed, you’re doing your hair and make-up because you’re about to shoot pictures. The picture perfect life. Sometimes it’s hard, but lately I’m doing things differently.
I’m trying to put away my phone more, and trust me: that’s really difficult when you’re an Blogger and Instagrammer. Also, more and more, I try to ‘just’ take a picture whenever I’m somewhere. Not too styled, not too perfect. It should be about the moment, not about the photo. I went to places because I could make a photo of it. But that’s not where it should be about of course! Now I’m going somewhere because I want to go there, and I make a picture because I’m having fun.
Same with clothing
Apart from the fact I absolutely LOVE clothing and buy a lot no matter what – read here everything you need to know about fashionbloggers– there’s also quite a lot of clothing in my closet, which I -almost- never wear. For events and shows, I bought special clothing. Those are things you can’t wear every single day and turn out to be hanging in your closet all year afterwards. The result? I don’t have that much clothing at all -not as much as you would think- and I sometimes still don’t have any clue what to wear to college.
Therefore: I’m going to buy more things I can wear everyday, which are fun ánd comfy, in stead of only looking good and stylish. Of course I’ll still pick items which will match all the requirements and of course I love the event/show-clothing, but you’ll probably know what I mean.
Then a few confessions:
I’ve got a bunch of magazines laying in my room, all full with fashion-editorials and the newest trends. I get really greedy and when you’re checking your bank-account to see how much you can spend, you know what time it is. Luckily, there’s my savior: Vintage shops! Read here how to find those pearls. You possibly can’t imagine how many cool stuff you can find there, as long as you know what you want and look for it really carefully. Last confession: I just did two purchases.
1. New Tommy Hilfiger loafers, which look cute with every single outfit 2. The Gigi x Tommy Hilfiger sailors hat. edit: the loafers were too small, unfortunately
Because they look great on pictures
The picture perfect life.
Gelukkig is daar mijn redding: Vintage shops!

Ohhh wauwie!! Ik hou van deze look!
Liefs XX
When I feel pressured as a blogger I try to remind myself that the “picture perfect life” doesn’t exist. As long as you are passionate about your content, the quality will shine through! Loving your chic look here as well. That coat is gorgeous!
Best,
Christina
Totally agree love! XO
I know right! Always Insta-worthy, but work related… X
Loving how honest this post is babe! It really is smart to do things you want to do not just because you know it will make for a good photo. I’ve also taken the approach you have with purchasing clothing you can wear more for every and not too over-the-top stylish so that I can’t wear it enough. The reality is sometimes blogging isn’t a lush as it’s all made out to be! Loving your outfit!
xoxo Rina
Love this honest post! So true. I have so many outfits for just Instagram but in reality I wonder how many are practical for work lol. Love this!
You too Andreea! XO
Thanks Aldora! Haha lol x
Thanks babe! XO
Love how you mixed the coat with the burgundy bag! Have a nice day! <3
Andreea,
WOW I love your hair in this post Charissa! And yup so true – my closet is bursting with clothing and some I would never wear. I just bought a pair of ill-fitting heels for the sake of taking nice photos and store them in the storeroom afterwards LOL.
I totally feel you girl! It gets exhausting spending your weekends being picture perfect all the time! I really like how raw and honest this post is! As for your outfit- you look gorgeous and I like how you’ve belted your scarf
Rachel xx
Thanks Erica! You too x
Haha I think we all are right? You’re welcome baby xx
Dankje meis! Haha inderdaad, dat moet sowieso. Lastig hè, dat blijft het… XO
Thanks Diana <3
Thanks Miki! I can imagine you miss that kind of events, surrounded by like-minded people. But traveling and everyday style blogging is indeed much more relaxed 🙂 Have a nice weekend babe xx
Exactly ! xo
Very true that it’s not as picture perfect as it may appear!
TGIF! XO,
Annie
Love your post! I actually used to attend galas, fundraisers, special events and grand openings a few times a month because I worked in the industry, so I have tons of dresses and gowns I don’t wear much anymore and wish I was a personal style blogger then! I actually miss that social life a lot. It would’ve been so easy for instagramming then. lol Now it’s more relaxed and much more about travelling and everyday style. It’s hard transitioning a wardrobe attire which like you, is a wise decision for me too, but it’s funny because there is that fine line on instagram and social media on lives being more glamorous than they truly are and being a blogger, it’s important to remind people that not everything is always as easy and glamorous as it looks. It’s actually really hard to make something look effortless, and if it does, then we did a great job. lol
Xo,
Miki
LOVE YOUR POSITIVE PHOTOS
i love this kind of post where you can discover more about friends. These photos then are so full of energy

This look is so cute! And yes, it’s important to do things because you want to do, and not for any other reason!! xx
I totally agree, sometimes i spend too much to take the perfect shot:) We should enjoy more the moment Love this post!
Have a great weekend
I totally agree with the part about being in the moment and not just going places to take pictures that are pretty. I’m guilty of that too and need to be better about that. Thank you for sharing your honest experiences as a fashion blogger.
Super leuk artikel!
I feel you so much!! I know exactly what you’re talking about haha! Funny post beauty!
I Totally relate to what you ‘ re writing here. And I ‘ m not a fashionblogger haha. Love your coat.
