♥ “But.. maybe I’ll wear it (again) sometimes”
Has your little black dress suddenly become really little? Don’t your doors close any more? Tons of clothing but nothing to wear?
It’s time for an Autumn Winter closet clean out. You’re not alone. We’re doing this together, sort of. I’ll give you some tips!
Get in the cleaning mood
Sometimes, you’re just in the mood to clean out (or up). You wake-up and think, okay, today’s the day… I’m going to clean-out my closet. Just like that. If you’re not in the mood, you might not sustain in cleaning your whole closet and that would be bummer. Cleaning out/up something, whether it’s your room, closet or even your bag, also helps you clearing your mind. It does for me though. It might seem a hell of a job, but when you’re done: you’re satisfied.
Alone.. or not alone?
I don’t like to clean out my closet alone, because either… I want to keep everything, or I want to get rid of it all. So ask your mom, sister or a friend to help you (and return the favour), turn up the beat of your speakers and go for it!
Take everything out of your closet
To clean your whole closet, it’s important to take everything out. You don’t have to do this all at once, in case you want to quit halfway through. Divide it into pieces, begin at the bottom and work your way up.
Donate when you’re done
It’s really bad, but I always end up having two to three bags full of clothes that I want to get rid of. What to do with them? I always donate them to charity shops. Don’t wait too long with that, because otherwise you’ll still have all this mess in your house and that’s the reason why you wanted to clean out in the first place.
Organise organise organise!
What’s better than seeing everything organized? Go to the Ikea and go crazy with buying storage bins for your clothes. You can put your summer clothes in those and put them on top of your closet, plus you could do your underwear, panties and scarves in storage bins. This makes your closet super organized.
No Mercy
If you haven’t worn something more than a year, get rid of it. Don’t think “But.. maybe I’ll wear it sometimes,” no.. Get rid of it. It’s not the same as a gown, bag or something else that’s timeless. It’s about shirts, dresses and trousers that don’t fit you anymore, that look vale or on-trendy and that you haven’t worn for a long time. No mercy!
Put together some Outfits
First you had a bunch of clothing, and now you have less clothes. What to wear now? Put together some Outfits! Mix and match and hang them together in your closet. What I also like to do is: hang everything with the same color together, or the same type of clothing (jackets by jackets and dresses by dresses).
And if you did it well, you’ll feel super organized and clean and your closet will too.
Now I’d like to know: how do you clean out your closet? Leave your tips in the comments below!
Haha neee! Dat klopt.. maar als daarna is er weer ruimte voor andere kleding. Nieuwe kleding voelt ook erg fijn 😉
Ik vind dit altijd zo lastig! Haha. Kleding wegdoen voelt gewoon niet fijn. XO
I know right?! It definitely is 🙂 X
Dankje! Nee ik hou er op zich ook niet van hoor, maar soms dan moet het gewoon haha. En inderdaad, na het opruimen zie je ineens weer wat je ook alweer had.. X
A tidy closet can give such a satisfying feeling! It sure is good start of a fashionable winter!
Goede tips! Ik hou echt niet van dingen weggooien, maar soms kom ik inderdaad opeens in die cleaning mood en dan moet alles weg. Na het opruimen heb ik altijd opeens twintig duizend nieuwe ideeën voor outfits.
